Dear Families,
I would like to invite any parents, older siblings, grandparents, relatives, or other special people to surprise your child by being a “Mystery Reader” this year in our classroom. Students LOVE having their family, friends, and relatives visit our classroom to share in our learning by reading a favorite story aloud to our class.
Mystery Readers will visit us on Fridays during Read Aloud & Snack time (10:00-10:15). If you can't make it on Fridays, let me know and we'll see what can be arranged. Mystery Readers are asked to bring a favorite picture book or short story to read. If you would like to borrow a book from our school or classroom library, please let me know~ I am happy to help! If you would like to donate your read aloud book to the classroom, your child and you will have the opportunity to fill in a bookplate to place in the book to remember this special day!
Check your calendar and find a date that works for you. Sign-ups will take place at Back to School Night. If you cannot attend, please email me your top two choices for dates. I will do my best to accommodate you. I will get back to you to confirm your official Mystery Reader date and time. Mystery Readers will begin Friday, October 1st and continue until the end of the year.
Remember, you are a mystery to the class. Try not to tell your child when you will be coming. I will send a reminder email or note the week before your visit, asking you to write three facts about yourself. These clues will help students solve the mystery of who will be reading to the class. Please inform me of the book you are choosing to read at that time, or if you need my help in making a selection.
Email me, stop by, or drop me a “secret” note if you have any questions. I hope you'll be part of our Mystery Reader program!
